**📖 About:**
Ever lost interest in your Minecraft world because you had reached god-level equip and never had to go mine for ores again because Mending made your equip last forever, breaking the gameplay loop? Well I've been there one too many times and came up with a solution: Mended Mending is a fork of the original [Unmending](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/unmending) mod bringing it to the newest Minecraft versions.
**Mended Mending** is a very simple mod that nerfs Mending without making it useless: Mending can no longer be applied as an enchantment. Instead, applying a Mending book to an item will reset the stacked repair cost that accumulates as you repair and combine items at an anvil. This can be done as many times as you want, allowing you to repair equip as many times as you want, never hitting "Too Expensive!" (though I have another mod for this [here](https://modrinth.com/mod/ante)).
If an item had already been enchanted with Mending before this mod was installed (or you get loot with Mending on it) it will no longer consume XP or be repaired, but next time you repair it at an anvil in any fashion it will be fully repaired and its extra repair cost will reset.
**"But why?"**
Just like the original developer Vazkii I do not like that Mending breaks the gameplay loop by making mining unnecessary. Once you have your perfect tools, you only need XP to keep them forever, rendering mining for ores useless. As mining is a fundamental aspect of the gameplay loop, I tried to find a way to change that, when I came across Unmending.
This implementation still feels ideal, as it restores the need to acquired resources to repair your tools, while still keeping Mending relevant and useful by giving you the ability to keep your tools forever. And with this port, it's now available on the newest versions.
