Description

Companion Mod for HorizonLOD

πŸŒ„ HorizonLOD Autogen

Because HorizonLOD can't render chunks that don't exist yet.

HorizonLOD Autogen fires up a background generation pipeline that churns through world chunks and feeds them directly into HorizonLOD β€” so your distant terrain is fully populated even in places you've never set foot. No void horizons. No awkward pop-in. Just a world that's already there when you look at it.

⚠️ Work In Progress β€” Rough Edges Ahead

This mod is actively in development. It can be unstable or slow in some situations β€” particularly on busy servers or large worlds. Feedback, crash reports and suggestions are very welcome.

πŸ’‘ Performance Tip

Autogen is fast β€” sometimes too fast. If you're seeing lag spikes or stuttering, decrease the chunk load frequency in the config. A slightly slower tick rate gives your CPU room to breathe and makes the whole experience noticeably smoother.

✨ What It Does

πŸ—ΊοΈ Background Chunk Generation

Generates chunks across your entire world without you having to travel there. The world builds itself while you play.

⚑ Auto-Ingestion Pipeline

Freshly generated chunks are fed straight into HorizonLOD the moment they're ready. Real-time. No manual steps.

πŸ”οΈ No More Void Horizons

HorizonLOD always has terrain data to work with. Unexplored regions render correctly instead of leaving empty holes in the distance.

πŸ“ˆ Stable at High Render Distances

Push your render distance as far as HorizonLOD lets you. Autogen keeps the terrain consistent and gap-free out to the edge.

βš™οΈ Zero-Config by Default

Install it. Forget it. It runs silently in the background. Tweak only if you want to.

πŸ”— Purpose-Built for HorizonLOD

Not a general-purpose chunk pre-gen tool. Specifically designed to fill the gap HorizonLOD depends on.

βš™οΈ Config Reference

These are the options you'll actually want to tweak. Everything else can stay at default.

Option Default Notes Generation Radius 128 128 chunks is plenty for most players. Bump it up only if you're pushing extreme render distances and still see gaps. Scanner Interval (Ticks) 20 Default scans every 20 ticks β€” very frequent. Recommended: set to 80. Scans less often but saves a noticeable amount of FPS and TPS, especially on busy servers. Max Queue Size 20000 How many chunks can be queued up at once. Default is fine for most setups. Max Parallel Tasks 20 This is the big one. Default of 20 will tank your FPS while playing. Set it to 6–7 for normal play β€” it's still fast and your game stays smooth. Only crank it back up if you're standing still or you have a machine that laughs at chunk generation.

πŸ’¬ These are the author's personal recommended values β€” your mileage may vary depending on hardware.

🌍 Built for the Big Worlds

Large exploration worlds. Massive render distances. Heavy modpacks with slow terrain generation.
This is exactly what Autogen was made for.

πŸ“¦ Installation

  1. Install HorizonLOD first β€” this mod does nothing without it.
  2. Grab the .jar from the Files tab above.
  3. Drop it into .minecraft/mods/
  4. Launch your world. Autogen will start quietly doing its thing.
  5. If things feel laggy β€” lower chunkLoadFrequency in the config.

⚠️ Still a WIP β€” stability will improve with future updates.

HORIZONLOD AUTOGEN

The world should exist before you try to look at it. πŸ”οΈ
