Crystcursed Dragon (Dragon Survival Add-On)

📜 About

The Crystcursed Dragon is an addon for Dragon Survival, adding a new type of dragon. The concept originates from the main attribute of my OC, "Crystcursed Magic," which is imagined as a type of curse that has not been fully tamed.

Since version 1.3.0, Crystcursed Dragon has received a brand‑new custom‑model species (neo_crystcursed_dragon). The base model was created by my friend 神秘奇男子, and I subsequently completed the model tweaks, rigging, and animations. The new model features more lively animations and more natural head rotation. Players can freely switch between the old and new models via the Amethyst Dragon Altar (see the "New/Old Model Conversion" in Features).

🪶 Features

• Built for Combat
  The dragon's skill set is designed for battle. When fully upgraded, it becomes highly effective against large groups of ground enemies.
• Flexible Casting Experience
  Most active skills have different branches triggered by standing or sneaking, providing more tactical options in combat.
• Fine‑tune Your Magic
  A special active skill summons a settings panel that lets you switch skill branches, control block‑breaking behaviour, and more.
• Species Flaw – Curse and Mana Symbiosis
  The dragon's mana source is deeply tied to the curse. The curse hinders natural mana regeneration, causing mana to constantly crystallize or dissipate into the air. You must replenish your mana from other sources; otherwise, when your mana runs out, the curse will feed on your life.
• ✨ New Model & Animations (New in v1.3.0)
  The independent model and animation system give Crystcursed Dragon a fresh look. Although animations for the Eastern body type are not yet finished (currently using the standard type as a placeholder), most of Dragon Survival's animations have been recreated.
• 🔄 New/Old Model Conversion (New in v1.3.0)

  To switch to the new model, follow these steps (players using the old model don't need to convert – the old species remains usable):

  1. Use an Empty Dragon Soul to store your Crystcursed Dragon soul.
  2. Drop the stored soul item onto an Amethyst Dragon Altar.
  3. Hold an Amethyst Shard, right‑click the altar, and close the interface (this consumes one shard).
  4. Wait for the conversion to finish, then pick up the converted dragon soul.

  Note: If you pick up the soul during the process, the conversion will be interrupted and must be restarted.

• 📦 Optional Datapack (New in v1.3.0)
  • "Laser Hit Explosion" – adds an explosion at the end of the Crystcursed Laser. To prevent unwanted world destruction in multiplayer, this effect must also be enabled in the settings panel. For existing worlds, use /datapack enable "mod/crystcursed_dragon:data/crystcursed_dragon/datapacks/laser_hit_explosion" to activate it.

• Since the skills are quite complex, we haven't described each one here. You can check the gallery or try them out after installation :)
• This addon is still in development – stay tuned!

🛠️ Maintenance & Debug Commands

The addon includes several datapack maintenance commands for cleaning up, resetting, or uninstalling mod data.
All commands must be entered twice in quick succession to prevent accidental triggers.

• /function crystcursed_dragon:_cmd/developer_options/_cleanup_legacy_data
  (Available since v1.2.0) – Cleans up invalid data left by old versions. Useful if you encounter lingering skill entities after an upgrade.
• /function crystcursed_dragon:_cmd/developer_options/_reinitialize_mod
  (Available since v1.2.0) – Soft‑reinitialises the datapack. Skill levels and similar data are not lost, but settings panel data will be reset, and summoned display entities will disappear. Use this if skills become unresponsive (e.g., crystals not summoning, laser not working).
• /function crystcursed_dragon:_cmd/developer_options/_uninstall_mod
  (Available since v1.2.0) – Soft‑uninstalls the datapack, removing all data stored by the datapack portion of this mod (does not affect dragon species, skills, or other mod‑related content). Do not run this unless you intend to completely remove the mod.

💡 These commands require operator (OP) privileges. Use with caution.

  • Because I'm not very experienced with Java, most of the behaviors and effects in this addon are implemented via datapacks. The mod primarily complements those datapacks by providing features they cannot, such as registering new items, custom potion effects, and creative tab entries.

• Copyright Ownership
  • Base Assets: The classic dragon models and base resources used in this mod originate from Dragon Survival and are the property of their original authors. These assets are not packaged within this mod.
  • Derivative Icons: Some skill icons are modified from the original Dragon Survival icons (including but not limited to color adjustments, element replacements, and content redrawing). The original design copyright belongs to the Dragon Survival author.
  • Custom Model: The base version of the custom model for the Crystcursed Dragon in this mod was completed by 神秘奇男子. Subsequent refinements, rigging, and animations have been continued by the mod author. 神秘奇男子 has fully transferred all ownership rights of the model to the mod author.
  • Fully Original Content: The Crystcursed Dragon species design, skill descriptions, balancing, datapack logic, and other assets fully created from scratch by me (including textures/UI elements) are my original work.

  • Include this mod in personal or public modpacks.
  • Record videos or live-stream with this mod.
  • Install and use this mod on servers.
  • Learn from and use this mod's datapack/code implementation as a reference.
