This addon mod adds new branches to the TerraFirmaCraft (TFC) tech tree that are not locked behind copper, enhancing the early game experience.

THE ALPHA AND RELEASE VERSIONS OF BETTER STONE AGE ARE INCOMPATIBLE. IF YOU SWITCH BETWEEN THEM ON AN EXISTING WORLD THEN BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN.

Features:

Ceramic jugs can now be dyed
Dyeing ceramics is no longer locked behind copper
Stone tools now have a binding progression system: no binding results in a durability penalty, while better bindings grant higher forging bonuses.
Multitool heads (Acheulean handaxes) can be knapped and used instead of any stone tool head for binding-less recipes.
Mobs now drop sinew, which can be processed into a string substitute
Bone knapping, which can be used to make bone fishhooks for bone fishing rods
Flint now spawns naturally underwater and can be used to knap higher-quality stone tools.
- Arrows are now crafted from arrowheads, which are knapped from bone, flint, or stone, rather than from raw flint.
- Gravel no longer drops flint.

- ...coarse flour, which can be used to craft dough less efficiently.
