From the Caves brings in the concept of a single stalking entity that changes forms and follows you throughout your journey in caves and on the surface. It can behave in a variety of ways, interacting with the world by affecting blocks and mobs in different ways. The mod has lore inspired by movies and real-life events, which is gradually uncovered as you explore some of the structures the mod has to offer. The upcoming 0.7 update will introduce many body horror and adventure horror elements.

Progressing through its phase system also requires the player to take some kind of action. You have to release it, anger it, or do something to advance the entity to the next phase. There are two phases at the moment, but more are being worked for the future. The mod also introduces new mechanics such as exorcism, holy water, crosses, and more, along with new blocks and items that are very important to its functionality.

After it is released, the entity can follow you around in caves and on the surface, sometimes observing you from a distance, and other times possessing blocks or entities. It can appear in a variety of ways and take on different physical forms, which affect its behavior and your experience with it.

Phase 1: Triggered when player uses the Haunted Cross in the ground cross found in Amos Mineshafts.

Phase 2: Triggers when Phase 2: Triggers when Anger value reaches 20 (50 in the upcoming version).
