Description

erbiumBanner

Erbium is a specialized translation pack designed for the Photon Shader, making it possible for users to experience the shader’s interface and settings in multiple languages. Currently, Erbium works by taking the original Photon Shader and incorporating translations directly into its files. This ensures that all menus, settings, and textual elements are available in different languages, providing a more accessible and user-friendly experience for a global audience.

erbiumBannerSupportedLanguages

Erbium currently includes translations for the following languages:

  • Arabic
  • Bulgarian
  • Brazilian Portuguese (Brazilian)
  • Chinese
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Romanian
  • Russian
  • Slovak
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
  • Ukrainian

With this diverse range of supported languages, Erbium helps bring the Photon Shader to a broader player base, ensuring that more users can comfortably navigate and customize their shader settings in their native language.

erbiumBannerFutuerDevelopment

While the current implementation of Erbium relies on modifying the original Photon Shader files to add translations, I'm actively working on a more advanced and efficient solution. The long-term goal is to create a standalone translation system that does not require direct modification of the Photon Shader’s code.

This new approach will offer several benefits, including:

  • Better Compatibility – Ensuring that Erbium works seamlessly with future versions of Photon Shader without requiring constant updates to shader files.
  • Easier Updates – Allowing translations to be updated independently of the shader, making it simpler to add new languages or refine existing ones.
  • Modular Design – Implementing a system where language files are stored separately and dynamically loaded, preventing conflicts with the shader’s core functionality.
  • Community Contributions – Enabling a more open translation process where users can contribute new languages or improve existing translations without altering shader code.

erbiumBannerThePathForward

The planned improvements for Erbium will make it a powerful and flexible localization tool for Minecraft shaders. By moving towards an external language file system or a dynamic translation mechanism, I'm aiming to provide a future-proof solution that ensures translations remain intact even as the Photon Shader evolves.

The Minecraft community will benefit greatly from this modular translation system, as it will enable players to use Photon Shader in their preferred language without the risk of losing translations whenever a shader update is released.

I'll continue to actively develop Erbium, striving to create a stable, user-friendly, and widely compatible translation pack that enhances the overall experience of Photon Shader users worldwide.

Erbium uses Photon Version 1.1. This version is available on Photon's Github Page. From Github, the repo version is 26c2906. This is the latest version before Photon switched to an All Rights Reserved license.

Erbium wouldn't have been possible to make without Photon Shader. Big thanks to Sixthsurge for Photon and EminGT for Complementary Shaders Reimagined. (Photon used components from Complementary Shaders, so I had to include this!).
