Description
Untamed Wilds Customised for the Au Naturel 5 Modpack
Untamed wilds provides a lot of custom mobs and behaviours to the original Au naturel modpack, as well as other modpacks for Minecraft 1.20.1. While the original mod has an open an permissive licence, its online source code appears to be several steps behind the relase date of the current latest version, and it has not recieved any updates in almost two years. It also contains a plethora of bugs, behaviours and design decisions that make it somewhat incompatible with other mods or large scale modpacks.
This edition has been completely rebuilt from a decompiled version of the latest untamed wilds .jar, allowing reconstruction of representative source code for me to implement changes and fixes.
Be aware, for those who want the original Untamed Wilds mechanics, I have made several changes the relegate untamed wilds spawn behaviour and mob permanency back to be more compatible with vanilla and modded minecraft mechanics, no longer defaulting to creatures spawned with world gen, and allowing creatures to despawn like any others.
As per the other Au Naturel edits, these versions have been made with a specific use in mind, but you are free to use them if you think they serve your purposes as well.
Aside from the technical achievement of getting the current build working at all, the following changes have been implemented into this version of untamed wilds:
Untamed Wilds Mod Changes Summary
- Fixed despawning: creatures now despawn like vanilla mobs when not tamed/named (ComplexMob.java:150-152)
- Fixed amphibious water detection: corrected isStableDestination() to properly check for water using FluidTags (ComplexMobAmphibious.java:79)
- Fixed swimming AI: corrected inverted logic so creatures don't swim when they want to be on land (AmphibiousRandomSwimGoal.java:19-25)
- Added 20-tick cache to predator target searching (HuntMobTarget.java)
- Added 40-tick cache to parent/child protection searching (ProtectChildrenTarget.java)
- Reduced herd tick frequency from every 10 ticks to every 40 ticks, reuse list allocation (HerdEntity.java)
- Changed bear damage boost to non-persistent short effect with existence check to prevent AttributeModifier accumulation (EntityBear.java:156-162)
- Disabled world generation spawning by default via masterSpawner config (ConfigMobControl.java:23)
