Play Guide: Install The Fool Modpack

Due to CurseForge review policies, the client version has some mod files removed from the mods folder, which may cause crashes (e.g., missing kubejs or ftbquests). To restore all mods, download the mods package from the provided link and replace the client’s mods folder as described below.

Installation Steps

1. Download Client and Mods Package:

   • Visit the modpack’s CurseForge page and download the main client file
   • Download the mods package from: Click to download

2. Extract and Replace Mods:

   • Extract the client's zip file to a temporary folder.
   • Extract the mods package (mods.zip) to access its mods folder.
   • Copy all files from the extracted mods folder to the client’s overrides/mods/ folder, overwriting any existing files.

3. Import and Play:

   Using CurseForge App :

   1. Launch the CurseForge App (download from curseforge.com if needed).

   2. Click Minecraft in the left sidebar, then select Create Custom Profile.

   3. Click Import and choose the modified client ZIP or its extracted folder.

   4. Go to Profile Options > Settings > Minecraft and set Java Arguments to allocate 6-8 GB RAM (e.g., -Xmx8192m -Xms6144m).

   5. Ensure Java 17 is selected (download from Adoptium if needed).

   6. Click Play to launch the modpack.

      Using Third-Party Launchers (e.g., PCL Launcher, HMCL, MultiMC):

   7. Launch your preferred launcher (e.g., PCL Launcher or HMCL/MultiMC from their official sites).

   8. Create a new game instance:

      • Select Minecraft version 1.20.1.
      • Install Forge 47.3.12 (download from files.minecraftforge.net if not available in the launcher).

   9. Extract the modified client ZIP to a folder (e.g., TheFool).

   10. Import the modpack:

       • In PCL Launcher, go to Version Management > Import Modpack and select the extracted folder or ZIP.
       • In HMCL, click New Profile > Import Modpack and choose the folder or ZIP.
       • In MultiMC, click Add Instance > Import from ZIP and select the ZIP or folder.

   11. Configure the instance:

       • Allocate 6-8 GB RAM (e.g., in PCL, go to Settings > Java > Max Memory; in MultiMC, go to Settings > Java).
       • Set Java version to Java 17 (download from Adoptium if needed).

   12. Launch the game to play the modpack.

Why Are Mods Missing?

CurseForge requires hosted mods to be referenced via manifest.json, not included in the client’s mods folder. The mods package from the provided link contains all necessary mod files, ensuring no crashes due to missing dependencies.

Note

The server version (TheFoolServer-0.0.1-fix3.zip) is a complete package with all mods included, but it is designed exclusively for server installation and cannot be installed locally as a client.
