Description

Title

Tired of packs that just throw a few themed mods together with little to no scripting or balance? Then take a breath of fresh air with Ages of Twilight, a fully integrated rpg pack that aims to strike a balance between kitchensink and progression.

Ages of Twilight provides a unique experience not found elsewhere. Structures are overhauled and remixed, custom content and systems fill in gaps, and recipes are unique and intricate.

Ages of Twilight promises:

Quality: Ages of twilight is not just your average kitchen sink pack. Mods are carefully integrated and balanced and anything annoying is immediately changed or removed. Duplicate or uncecessary items are removed and replaced with others. Over a thousand recipes have been modified to create a sense of cohesion and balance. Custom items and mechanics are inserted to fill gaps. Content is overhauled and improved for the pack to bring every mod to its full potential.

Progression: Dimensions are gated behind acquiring certain items. Mobs are properly balanced around the level of weapons in the pack. Each dimension gets more challenging and more rewarding. Progression is optional for those who want to take it easy and enjoy the pack.

Custom content: Unique items, fluids, blocks, recipes, and mechanics are created with kubejs and datapacks specifically for the pack. You can't find these anywhere else.

Lore: Quests, Item descriptions, books found in structures, and more come together to make a story. Not anywhere near complete yet, but more is added with every update.

Big thanks to ChummyCho for letting me use their code as reference.

Ages of Twlight's birthday is coming up! Post update ideas in the comments!

Featuring:

  • Iron's Spellbooks (The most prominent magic mod, many mobs can now cast it's spells)
  • Ars Nouveau (Enchanting apparatus is used to craft most magical gear)
  • Create (you don't need to interact too much with it if you don't want to, but it is used in quite a lot of recipes and structures)
  • Jaden's Nether Expansion (Revamps the nether, adds to lore and makes the nether more dangerous)
  • Unusual End (Revamps the end, more coming soon)
  • Alex's Caves (Mostly used for optional stuff but I still very integrated into the pack)
  • Cataclysm (Provides many bosses for the pack, all with revamped structures, drops, etc.)
  • Farmer's Delight (Adds cutting board/cooking mechanics used to make most food in the pack)
  • Quark (QOL features. Configured for the pack)
  • Supplementaries (Tech, decor, qol)
  • Born in Chaos (HIGHLY configured (no annoying mini bosses spawning on top of you), provides a few new mobs to make nighttime more dangerous)
  • Soon: Parcool, Spice of Life, and Feathers (Fully configured to work together to make an intuitive and fun stamina system allowing fun movement options to spice up travel and combat)
  • Soon: The Aether (Provides an additional dimension between the Nether and End in progression, overhauled with extra content and updated bosses)

Progression

Progression revelves around beating bosses and unlocking dimensions. You start in the overworld, with access to a wide variety of gear of varying power, but to get to the REAL good stuff you'll have to access the nether. You won't be able to enter the nether until you've crafted and used a seal of the nether, crafted with various drops from minibosses and powerful mobs. Once you have access to the nether, you'll be able to start obtaining Eyes of Ender, dropped from various bosses across the dimensions. After obtaining 12 of the 16 eyes of ender, you can locate the stronghold and activate an end portal. In the end you'll face off against the Ender Dragon, buffed with tons of health and new attacks. After defeating it you'll have access to the Outer End islands, full of new content and the most powerful gear in the pack.

Mobs get harder throughout the dimensions, but challenge can be avoided if you want. Bossfights, progression, or otherwise is all optional.

Planned progression:

Once in the nether you will be able to spawn the (heavily overhauled) wither for a huge bossfight. Killing it might unlock a terraria-style hard mode stage in still working it out. Once you've killed the wither you will be able to enter the aether. In the aether you will fight several bosses in order to be able to access the end.

Performance

Ages of Twilight is made to be playable even on low end computers, though you may experience some lag. It's not the best ever, but it should be passable on most PCs. I recommend giving it 8 GB of ram, that's what I use while developing it, but more couldn't hurt.

Please suggest things and give feedback in the comments! This modpack is very much still in developement, and suggestions and help are more then welcome!

Here are some things I would love to hear opinions on:

Would you rather Create be fully integrated into the progression, be completely optional, or something in between?

how would you like difficulty progression to be handled? Based on distance, time, or something entirely different?

This pack is currently unfinished, but it is still very much playable. There is plenty of content and progression but much is still to come.

Future plans:

Plans are subject to change

After some thought I have decided that instead of some of the updates I had planned for this pack, I will be developing a sequel pack with heavier lore/progression driven gameplay and very in-depth mechanics. The Aether update will continue developement, but will likely be far slowed down and release much much later. I will continue developement on this pack at my interest and not any faster. If you have concerns/questions about this, or have ideas for the upcoming pack, use the comments or send me a private message.

I'm considering a 0.10 update for Ages of Twilight's 1-year anniversary. Post ideas in the comments!

1.0: In developement

1.0 will be a big update with some pretty major changes, and will serve as a "final" (not really) update for the pack. Keep in mind i am only 1 developer and don't spend all my time doing this so it will take a while.

A few of the changes you can look forward to:

The Aether comes to Ages of Twilight! Our first additional dimension, it serves as a final test before entering the end. In the aether, magic won't work, and many items won't have an effect. You will have to progress through a customized progression with none of your previous tools to defeat the final boss. (might be sun spirit, might be something else). Expect overhauled mechanics and bosses + new content for the pack.

Considering: "Hard mode"  After killing the wither, there might be some significant changes to the world (new mobs, ores?). You will only be able to enter the aether once in hard mode.

Considering: End difficulty increase: Prevent teleportation to/from the end (still within it), possibly a corruption mechanic where you don't want to spend too long there.

Expect plenty of balance changes/small mechanics/recipe changes as per usual.

Iron's spellbooks update: 3.15 has been backported to 1.21, so it and all its features (and lore implicatiens mehehe) will be coming in 1.0.

Cavern's and Chasms: Polished up

Caverns and chasms had a huge update which will be very integrated into the pack, with tin probably tying into create progression a bit.

Smaller updates: Dungeon Now Loading 2.2%, Bilokosa, and more!

If other major mod updates happen during the developement of 1.0, you will likely see them come along with it.

Feel free to suggest things and i might add them in the next update.
