After installing Cleanroom, open the config folder and edit relauncher.json manually — here's what to change:

"autoUpdate": true  —  always launches the latest Cleanroom release, skips update prompts.

"args": "-XX:+UseCompactObjectHeaders -XX:+UseZGC"  —  Java 25 flags for noticeably better performance.

I'm also too lazy to update the download link on the mod page every patch, so just check the latest changelog for the current MEGA link. It's always in there.

Back in 2017, 40 mods felt like a lot. HEI didn't exist, you guessed recipes, and your PC ran at 40 FPS, and somehow that was fine. I wanted that feeling back. So I spent too many evenings building the definitive 1.12.2 modpack, tuned performance until it actually ran, and then played it exactly once with my friends for about 45 minutes before real life happened.

PEAK is the chaotic, overpowered, endlessly surprising side of 1.12.2. No quest book. No hand-holding. You start with nothing, end up automating your storage while a dragon circles overhead and a troll TNT detonates somewhere behind you. It's peak.

No quest book. HEI is your recipe guide. Exploration is your progression. That is intentional.

Dragons, sea serpents, hippogryphs, cyclopes. They will find your base before you find them.

Performance

1.12.2 has a reputation for struggling under heavy modlists. PEAK runs a full stack of modern mixin-based performance mods. This is not the 12 FPS experience you remember.

Do not add OptiFine.
