Overview

This mod is a standalone mod of the Salotls from Caves & Creatures Mod. Adds in the base set of Salotls from Caves & Creatures, an axolotl and salamander hybrid species! They can live on land and underwater! There are currently 15 Salotl variants in this base pack. These creatures can be bucketed for transportation, and also can be tamed. Once tamed they have their own sit/wander/follow system built in. Salotls spawn in Lush Caves and can be tamed with craftable treats! Use JEI for a better experience. This mod was created using Mcreator. More salotls will be released in their own standalone mods so if you want all variants be sure to check my projects page and download them all. (if using the full mod with all salotls included these standalones are not needed.)

Lore

Cave Exploring Pillagers  discovered a new hybrid species with traits of both salamander and axolotl! These creatures were named salotls! "Sal" from salamander and "Lotl" from Axolotl. After being experimented on by the pillagers there were hundreds of salotls being held in captivity. After word got to villagers of what these creatures were and how the pillagers were experimenting on them in captivity, a group of villagers banned together and set out to release them.  After months of searching they finally discovered the facility where the salotls where being help captive. It was located in a abandoned Guardian Temple that was taken over by pillagers. The villagers spent the next day planning how to sneak in and break the saloltls out. When night came they drank potions of night vision and aqua affinity and swam to the back of the temple. Using all their strength they dug a way into the temple and found themselves in a storage closet. One of the villagers opened a chest to discover the hide of a salotl. This angered the villagers. Two of the villagers ran out of the closet and took out the pillagers guarding the storage closet. Taking pillagers out one by one they found the control room. Locked behind an iron door. The villagers used a trident to break the door open. But before they could enter they heard a loud noise and then the wall blew open towards them. Out of the darkness emerged a drowned pillager hybrid. Unlike anything the villagers seen before they fought as hard as they could. Three villagers had been injured to the point they could no longer fight. The last villager able to fight stood their ground. Dual wielding a trident and axe the villager fought the Pillager hybrid to the death. Only, the villager was the one who didn't make it. However, in the moments in between life and death a deity known as "Herobrine" approached the villager. The god was angry at the pillagers and told the villager how the pillagers tricked the god into manifesting itself physically in the overworld to get its DNA. The pillagers then used the deity's DNA to make another salotl hybrid. Herobrine possessed the villager and sought out his revenge on the Hybrid Pillager. Once the hybrid was killed, Herobrine returned to the void and the villager was saved from the edge of death by the possession. The villagers then moved the salotls to Lush Caves where they could live free. Now salotls have repopulated and live happily, however it seems in recent expeditions to the caves, human explorers have noticed a newfound fondness in the Salotls. Maybe a  trip to the lush caves would be worth it to see these new cuties.
