Description

Enchantment Shifter

Do you get annoyed with enchantments on items you don't need? Do you want to shift the enchantment from your old pick to your new one? Do you want to turn your enchanted sword into an enchanted book? With Enchantment Shifter, you can do just that! With the help of an anvil and XP, you can shift enchantments between items without needing a grindstone!

What is it?

This is a mod that allows you to:

  • Take enchantments off items and put them on books
  • Shift enchantments between items (if possible)
  • Change the cost and other settings that have to do with enchantment shifting

All you have to do is place an enchanted item in the first slot, and either a book or the item you want to enchant in the second slot!

Why do you need this?

  • Balanced XP cost system: Uses the same calculations as vanilla anvil enchanting, but it can be changed.
  • Highly customizable: You can change almost everything.
  • Vanilla friendly: Doesn't add any new blocks or items (it works in the vanilla Minecraft world).
  • Server compatible: Works with servers (install it on your server if you want to use it in multiplayer).
  • Modpack friendly: Can be used with modpacks (it's free!).

How to install

  1. Install Fabric loader for the version of Minecraft that you have
  2. Put the downloaded mod file in the mods folder
  3. Open up Minecraft with Fabric

How to configure

The Enchantment Shifter config file is pretty simple to customize. Here's how to do it:

Find the config file

You can find the config file in your .minecraft/config/ folder:

  • For Windows: %APPDATA%\.minecraft\config\
  • For Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/config/
  • For Linux: ~/.minecraft/config/

Open the file

Find the file called enchantment-transfer-config.properties in the config folder, then open it with any text editor. It should look something like this:

# Enchantment Shifter Configuration # Last updated: 2024-01-15 # Cost Setting (Default: 1000) # This sets a fixed XP cost for all enchantment transfers. # Set to 1000 to disable fixed cost and use the default vanilla calculation. cost=1000 # Cost Factor (Default: 1.0) # Multiplies the XP cost by this value. # Set to 0.5 for half cost, 2.0 for double cost, etc. factor=1.0 # Enchantment Limit (Default: 0) # Limits how many enchantments can be transferred at once. # Set to 0 to disable the limit (transfer all enchantments). limit=0 # Return Item Setting (Default: 1) # Controls what happens to the source item after transfer: # 0 = Source item vanishes (is consumed) # 1 = Source item returns to you (with enchantments removed) return=1

How to use

  1. Put an enchanted item in the first slot
  2. Put a book (to take enchantments off of the item) or an item (to enchant it) in the second slot
  3. Take the enchanted book or enchanted item that comes out of the third slot
  4. Get your enchanted or modified item back depending on what you set the return option to in the config file
