Description

FPS Tune

FPS Tune is a lightweight client-side performance mod focused on improving frame-time stability during heavy particle and weather scenes.

Instead of replacing Minecraft's renderer, FPS Tune reduces optional visual workloads when they become unusually demanding.

Available for Fabric Available for Quilt Available for NeoForge Available for Forge

✨ Features

  • Particle optimization: Limits excessive particle workloads during heavy scenes.
  • Adaptive particle limit: Automatically adjusts the particle budget based on recent frame times.
  • Nearby particle priority: Prioritizes particles close to the player when the particle budget is under pressure.
  • Weather control: Optionally reduces local rain and snow rendering.
  • Client-side only: No server installation required.
  • Easy configuration: Configure FPS Tune through its settings screen or quickly toggle it with F6.

FPS Tune starts disabled by default.

🔧 Compatibility

Available for Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge.

FPS Tune is designed to work alongside broader performance mods such as Sodium and other rendering optimizations.

📊 Performance Tests

Controlled particle stress tests on an Apple M2 with no shaders, resource packs, or companion performance mods.

Minecraft 1.21.11

210.10 → 215.17 FPS (+2.4%)

p95 frame time: 6.65 → 5.63 ms (-15.3%)

Minecraft 26.2

78.69 → 102.78 FPS (+30.6%)

p95 frame time: 17.61 → 14.39 ms (-18.3%)

Extreme Particle Test

A separate Minecraft 26.2 test used a dense 4,000 flame particle workload.

FPS Tune Off: 38 FPS
FPS Tune On: 58 FPS

Approximately 53% higher instantaneous FPS in this specific stress test.

FPS Tune intentionally reduces optional visual workload during these tests. Results vary depending on hardware, Minecraft version, settings, and workload, so these measurements are not a universal FPS guarantee. Although an improvement is to be seen.
