Description

Ascension of Ages is a 500+ mod gated-progression modpack built around harsh survival, dungeons, bosses, automation, industry, space, and a handcrafted 2000+ questbook ft. more linear progression to guide you to the unique endgame.

GREAT NEWS! I've partnered with Wabbanode to provide a cost-effective, personalized server hosting experience. If you sign up using my affiliate link and enter the code "ASCENSION", you'll be directly supporting development of this pack and granted an exclusive role within the discord server that gets first access to beta releases, new ideas, and more!

**Please note, the pack is currently under heavy development and quests are minimal (~500 of about 2000+ implemented and not thoroughly tested - expect glitches!), compared to what they will be after v1.0 is released. We are at v0.4 at the moment!

**If you're experiencing a lot of lag, please disable Distant Horizons. If you experience any issues or want a community around this pack, check out the discord: https://discord.gg/EB6gss2sek

What makes this modpack unique is the heavily progression-driven age/quest system built around the idea that nothing is truly “free” or immediate. This isn't your typical kitchen-sink pack, and instead of throwing hundreds of disconnected mods at you all at once, I've carefully gated/adjusted content so that each new system, dimension, resource tier, and power spike has to be earned in a deliberate order. I've been utilizing bosses and technology requirements as progression. For instance, to advance to the Industrial Age, you have to defeat several specific bosses and have already established technological infrastructure. Most of the time bosses and dimensions are treated as cool, optional side content but here, you'll find reason in everything you do, even if it doesn't seem obvious at first. Featuring standout inclusions like Malum, Oritech, NauTec, Create (and a LOT of add-ons such as TFMG, Nuclear, Steam n Rails, and more), Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, Cataclysm, Twilight Forest, The Aether, Macabre, and more all serving a place in the grand scheme of things. Survival is also harsh, with seasons being a core pillar of your early game growth and crops. Thirst, temperature, lockpicking minigames, all have a place and exist to make it so that advancement feels earned. Mobs are more difficult too, with adjustments such as Revamped Phantoms, enhanced AI with zombies that crawl through singular block holes to get to you, and dynamic difficulty adjustments + controlled loot chests based on the Age you're in. You'll discover new mechanics, a more linear progression utilizing every aspect possible, and a rewarding-yet-challening survival experience. This'll all amount to be a refreshing experience that is unlike what you're used to playing.

Our most notable features:

  • 500+ mods, all tested for incompatibility and ensnared in unique ways in the questbook
  • ~80+ bosses, hundreds of additional mobs from famous mods like Alex's Mobs, Born in Chaos, DivineRPG, Journey Into The Light, and lesser used mods such as Macabre- Call of the False Prophets, Revamped Phantoms (don't get picked up by one!).
  • World generation featuring custom structure spacing so the world feels emptier, yet rewarding to stumble across something cool. Smaller structure mods such as ATi's structures, Better Archaeology, BetterEnd/BetterNether, Deeper and Darker, The Undergarden, and integration of Clavis with Lootr so chests are more challenging to unlock.
  • Not the same pile of magic mods. We've got the classics, such as Apotheosis/Ars/Iron's Spellbooks, but I strived to include lesser used ones such as Malum + Gaze, Pastel, Eternal Starlight.
  • A unique endgame that's currently unfinished
  • Horror mods that tie intense encounters into your journey, utilizing such mods as Zombie Nightmare Expansion.
  • Dynamic difficulty scaling that controls dungeon difficulty, mob difficulty, loot available, and adjusted mob spawn rates so you're having a new "what the heck is that!?" moment often.
  • Gated progression with Progressivestages, custom scripting, ore/oil/recipe replacement so mods aren't reduced to redundancy instantly. Adjusted worldgen to account for that as well, with one example being disabling PneumaticCraft's oil spawn system and enforcing compatibility with TFMG's oil system instead so it's more reliant on one.
  • Large technology spine, ft. intense mods like Modern Industrialization + add-ons, Create + add-ons, AE2, Mekanism, NauTec, Actually Additions + Divisions, Oritech, the Dyson Sphere Project, Extreme Reactors, and more!
  • A harsh survival system with Cold Sweat/Thirst Was Taken + Serene Seasons. Before even worrying about getting your first piece of iron, you should be accounting for the fact that you won't survive without a fire (don't forget to ventilate your room!), accounting for temperature, making filtered water, and getting ready for winter.

Recommended: 12–16 GB RAM

For shaders on high+ settings, Distant Horizons, etc., it is highly suggested to use 16 gb of RAM, but do not allocate too much!

See pictures below:

Tectonic + Terralith + BWG + Regions Unexplored

(also the darkmatter nuke provides some "never-ending" world destruction)

Unique dungeons with tiered difficulty levels and respectively awarded loot.
