Description

๐Ÿฉธ Welcome to Bloody Hell!

Bloody Hell! is a dark magic and exploration mod that introduces a brand new, hostile dimension filled with fresh challenges, gruesome entities, and forbidden blood magic.

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT DEPENDENCIES & SETUP โš ๏ธ

  • Requires: GeckoLib, Player Animator, & Patchouli.
  • Highly Recommended: JEI (Just Enough Items) is highly advised, as some complex recipes are best viewed directly through it.
  • Shaders/Performance: It is strongly advised to use optimization mods like Rubidium + Oculus instead of Optifine. Some custom textures and models will break when using Optifine!
  • Shaders/Compatibility: Shaders are partially compatible with this mod. Some custom visual effects from the mod will not be available while using them. The most compatible shader for now is Complementary ReImagined. If you know another one, let me know!
  • Geckolib/Bug: If you stumble across a visual glitch or bug on some entity animations while using shaders, try turning off entity shadows from the shader config.

๐Ÿฆ‡ Current Features

  • The Bloody Hell Dimension: A completely custom dimension currently featuring 2 unique biomes to explore, including the Blasphemous biome.
  • 3 Formidable Bosses: Test your might against challenging encounters. (Note: The legacy Oni boss is currently being deprecated to make room for entirely new horrors!)
  • Expansive Dungeons: Discover Vesper's Hut in the Overworld, conquer the Sanctum of the Unbound (Ritekeeper boss fight), and explore Seliora's Pyramid.
  • Epic Boss Rewards: Defeat Ritekeeper, a powerful blood fire mage, to unlock spell crafting abilities, or slay Seliora, a corrupted disciple of the unknown, to unlock her exclusive weapons.
  • Fluid Logistics & Automation: Use the Soul Harvester block to collect blood from nearby dead mobs, and transport it using fluid pipes.
  • Advanced Metallurgy: Utilize the Sanguinite Infusor (which has officially replaced the obsolete Blood Crucible) to create top-tier Rhnull ingots by infusing standard Sanguinite with blood and Viscous Fluid.
  • Blood Botany: Feed pumped blood to the Voracious Mushroom to infect dying mobs and extract Viscous Fluid, or feed materials like gold nuggets, lapis lazuli, sanguinite, and amethyst shards to Blood Sprout plants to harvest upgrade gems.
  • Spell Upgrades: Use the Sanguinite Lapidary to enhance your Spell Books into awesome new variations using harvested gems.
  • Blood Magic & Rituals: Utilize Sacrificial Daggers to harvest souls from vanilla and modded mobs, bottle them up, and perform dark rituals.
  • Crimson Veil (Mana): Cast spells using Crimson Veil energy, which can be recharged by drinking blood flasks or wearing special amulets.
  • New Enemies: Battle against custom entities, including towering, line-of-sight tracking Cyclopes and other gruesome aberrations.

๐Ÿ“œ How to Get Started (Beginner's Guide)

Surviving the Blood dimension requires preparation. Follow these steps to begin your dark journey:

๐ŸŽฅLearner? If you feel lost, check out the mod guide book in game called "The unknown guide" highlighting the current mod mechanics!

  1. Craft The Unknown Guide: Your very first step should be to craft the in-game manual. This guidebook contains everything you need to know about the cosmic horrors, blood mechanics, and rituals awaiting you.
  2. Find Vesper: Locate Vesper's Hut in the Overworld and complete his first quest, or craft the portal key (Chalice of the Damned).
  3. Enter the Dimension: Search Vesper's facility to find the hidden portal to Bloody Hell.
  4. Advanced Infusion: Use the Sanguinite Infusor to craft Rhnull gear. You will need to pump blood and Viscous Fluid (obtained by killing mobs infected by a blood-fed Voracious Mushroom) into the Infusor.
  5. Harvest Souls: Craft a Sacrificial Dagger and slay mobs to spawn their souls. Quickly capture these fleeting souls using a Gold Flask.
  6. Perform Rituals: Gather enough Blood and Corrupted Blood flasks to build your Ritual Altars and start crafting Spell Books!

๐Ÿ”ฎ Ritual Setup

  • You will need 1 Main Blood Altar and 4 standard Blood Altars.
  • Place the Main Altar in the center. Place the 4 standard altars around it, leaving exactly 3 blocks of empty space between the center altar and the outer ones.
  • To start a ritual, charge the main altar with a filled Blood Flask, place your items on the altars, and interact with the center altar with an empty hand.
  • Stuck on a recipe? Use JEI!

๐Ÿš€ Planned Features

  • More Biomes: Expanding the dimension (and they won't all be red!).
  • Eldritch Summoning: A massive new system featuring upgradeable, modular items (like the Ocular Reliquary) that use runes to summon mutated, fleshy minions to fight for you.
  • Hostile Mobs Rework: Refining current enemies and adding terrifying new ones.
  • Deepened Blood Magic: Further inspiration drawn from classic mods like Botania and Witchery.
  • More: New weapon tiers, quest-giving NPCs, and expansive structures.

โš™๏ธ Accessibility & Player Comfort

We want Bloody Hell to be an intense horror experience, but not a nauseating one! We have included a dedicated client configuration to help players who suffer from motion sickness or sensitivity to FOV changes.

Features:

  • Starting Item Config: Server owners and modpack developers can now toggle whether players automatically receive the "Unknown Guide Book" when joining a world for the first time.
  • Camera Shake Toggle: You can now completely disable the screen-shaking effects triggered by bosses (like Seliora and the Cyclops) or environmental events.
  • Dynamic FOV Toggle: Disable the FOV "zooming" and "distortions" caused by blood rituals, item abilities, and madness effects.

How to adjust these settings:

  • The Manual Way: Go to your .minecraft/config folder and open the config files with any text editor (like Notepad).
    • Visual effects (Camera Shake, FOV) are located in bloodyhell-client.toml.
    • Gameplay rules (Guide Book on spawn) are located in bloodyhell-common.toml.
  • The In-Game Way: For the best experience, we highly recommend installing the Configured mod. This will allow you to toggle all of these settings directly inside the game's "Mods" menu without touching any files!

Feedback & Bug Reports: This mod is currently in heavy development. Bugs or performance issues may occur as the systems are actively optimized and expanded. Comments, suggestions, or bug reports are highly encouraged here or on GitHub.
