Forge mod for rewriting the light engine to fix lighting performance and lighting errors.
This version aims to provide full 1.16.5 compatibility, including support for Create.

Compatibility

Starlight can be installed on either the client or the server—it does not need to be on both.

If the server has Starlight, clients may join using Vanilla or Starlight.
If the client has Starlight, it may join Vanilla or Starlight servers.

Because Starlight is a heavily invasive light engine rewrite, some mod conflicts are expected.

Purpose

Starlight was originally developed for large, high-scale dedicated servers struggling with performance due to Minecraft’s extremely slow vanilla light engine. The solution was to create an invasive, full light-engine rewrite.

The mod was later ported to Fabric for snapshot support, and eventually released publicly so both server owners and client players could benefit.
However, its invasive nature means that compatibility issues are a known possibility—though on Bukkit-based servers, this wasn't a concern.
