Play as Dragon [Abandoned]

■ This modpack is not my main project. My main project is Dragon Survival MOD, not Play as Dragon MODPACK. The main mod is actively receiving updates and new content, while this modpack will remain on older versions.

■ The version for 1.18.2 modpack is no longer supported by the developer, but fully playable. If your quest book crashes, update majrusz library to 4.3.1+.

■ Other official modpacks:

• Terra Draconis - Primitive Dragon Survival - 1.21.1 - Try your hand at realistic survival with Terrafirmacraft! A completely redesigned Dragon Survival with numerous add-ons and unique gameplay! Hardly recommended!
  
  
• Play as Dragon Gothic Edition - 1.19.2 - It combines the creativity of Minecraft with the sternness of Gothic. You will be greeted by a variety of cruel animals on surface, and undeads will be lurking underground. Get ready for an interesting and long adventure! No wings at start.
  
  
• Play as Dragon Comfort Edition - 1.19.2-1.21.1 - is a very light modpack for those who do not like hardcore, read quests and experience difficulties in survival. A good basis for playing in survival mode without unexpected encounters with monsters at night. Dragons also have all debuffs disabled.

■ Play as Dragon is a modpack from the developer of Dragon Survival mod. The main goal is be a dragon and explore the harsh world. Your wings will not save you from many arrows and every cave can become your grave. Only the strongest and most agile dragons can survive in this world. The modpack is not hardcore if you think outside the box and allocate your dragon's strength properly. Only true dragons can pass this way. If you are human, you don't belong here. 

■ It took a few months of active work to create this modpack. It fixed all the bugs that were in the Young modpack and significantly improved optimization. There's no cluttered interfaces, confusing quests and weird graphical glitches which are inherent in many modpacks. Just run the game and play it the way you like.

• You can fly from the beginning (G), but don't think that your survival will be easy because of this.
• There are now many more skeletons on the ground. Zombies have become more diverse and appear only in caves. 
• In the caves you may encounter monsters you haven't seen before. Get ready for an uphill battle.
• Improved spawning in deep water caves: now they are not lifeless deserts. You can meet here drowned and fish. Beware of encounters with zombie turtles and dolphins.
• Damage from all mobs increased by 1.5 times. Can appear enhanced versions with special properties. The game is set on high difficulty.
• Some mods are blocked until certain quests are completed. Their list is small: Create (Builder - Create), Sophisticated Backpacks and Sophisticated Storage (Traveler - Special Vault).
• When you die, you are left with a tombstone and your things don't just lie on the ground.
• The seasons change each other and can greatly change the biomes. The harvest in the vegetable garden also depends on it.
• With each death the bosses become stronger and gain new abilities. I do not advise you to mess with the ender dragon.
• You can dig vast areas with shift + any block in hand. You can cancel this action.
• Do not kill animals at night! Otherwise they will turn into zombies, which will infect healthy animals and attack everyone. For this reason, you will not find domestic animals in the wild. Now you have to buy them from the villagers.
• Iron, copper, and coal are eight times less common than in the vanilla game. Look for alternative ways to mine iron. Hints can be found in the quests.
• And a lot of other features, which are described in more detail in the quests. To open the quest panel, simply press J.

■ As you travel, you will regularly stumble upon the opportunity to track some animal, ore, or plant. For this you will receive in-game information about it and some interesting facts from real life. Most of the animal quests are written in collaboration with the Russian Biological Society, which I've been a member of for many years. There really is a lot of text in the quests and a lot of careful work has been done on them. This is not only a guide to the different mods, but also your guide to the real world. 

■ What the quests will be:

• - 70 animal quests where you can get a lot of useful information per observation;
• - 60 unique quests about dragons and their characteristics;
• - 50 quests about travel and trade;
• - 14 modest quests about building and Create;
• - 27 items in the store, which you can buy for dragon dust or, conversely, sell something and get that dust;
• - 90 grind quests for kills and dust, which are not required to pass, but give small rewards and lore;
• - To open the quest panel just press J or open your inventory. At the top left will be a button to go to the quests.

■ Client Installation:

• Download Curseforge Launcher (article link)
•  Find and Install my modpack (article link)
• Allocate a minimum of 6-8 gigabytes of memory in the Curseforge Launcher (video link)
• Make sure you have Java 17 (Open JDK) installed.
• Update AMD drivers if you are using video cards from that vendor.
• Play.

■ Server Installation:

■ The modpack is designed only for single player work. Remove these mods if you want to run the server: rubidium, rubidium_extras, oculus, Fancymenu and shutupexperimentalsettings.

• There is NO special version for the server. Use the previous point to install the modpack (as if you were going to play single, but not run this).
• Create the server the same as usual (video). 
• When you have done EVERYTHING like in the video, close server, delete the world folder.
• Move ALL (REALLY ALL) folders and files into a prepared server folder from installation in Curseforge Launcher (open local files). No need to download the zip from the website! Only full installation in the launcher!
• Run server.
• Uninstall old versions of Java and install the latest version of Java 17 (Open JDK) if your server does not start.
  
  

■ Languages currently available: Russian (Black Aures), Polish (Fofa#3873, Koohori#9748), English (Seberten#0108, naanahstnil#0001). If you do translate, tell us in the comments or tell me in a private message on Discord - BlackAures#7759.

■ Localization status:
- Russian - 100% complete
- English - 99% complete, but needs testing
- Chinese, Polish - 80%, needs updating

■ Important note: I plan to create and maintain modpack only in Russian language, and it is focused on Russian audience. There is a lot of specific information in the modpack, which should only be in the Russian version of the localization. For example, instructions on how to deal with poisonous snakes and spiders in real life. There are only 2 dangerous venomous species in our country: Vipera berus and Latrodectus tredecimguttatus. As you understand, such instructions can be given only to inhabitants of Russia and are strongly contraindicated to inhabitants of other countries. Each country has its own rules regarding such events and for this reason there will be several rules in localization. Just keep in mind that much is written specifically for life in Russia and do not need to follow many of the instructions. All such facts will be removed from the localization for other countries. The full version will only be available in Russian to avoid dangerous situations. Take it seriously.

■ Localization rules:

• 1. The main language is Russian. Try to use only it for all current and future localizations. I will only update it. And if there are any new quests, I will only translate Russian. English will never be the primary language.
• 2. Assess your strengths correctly. Creating a localization for this modpack will be much harder than you think. To compare: in DS Russian localization file is 67 Kb and is quite bulky (those who translated DS will understand what I mean), and all modpack quests now weighs as much as 430 Kb. This is a huge ton of text, which must not just translate, but also properly adapted to each country. Don't think you can just throw it into the translator and everything will magically work.
• 3. Many quests related to travel and biology will need to be adapted to your country and language. If you see instructions for a specific situation written somewhere - delete them. There is a 99% chance that what works in Russia will not work in your country and it is better to just remove that text. No need to make up your own instructions or look them up on the internet. I am fully responsible for everything written in my quests and I don't want to put people from other countries in danger. Don't make up your own text.
• 4. The rest of the localization rules are the same as in DS: don't remove special characters (■ \n ▬ "" and others), keep the meaning and formatting.
• 5. No machine translations. I will check all your translations and will not add machine-generated translation to modpack. Check what you are doing and check the result in game.
• 6. Never add " " anywhere. This breaks the json formatting. Check your jsons here - https://jsoneditoronline.org and test all in the game.
• 7. You should not use the built-in notepad in windows. It breaks the json formatting, too. Use Notepad++ for localization and all work with jsons - https://notepad-plus-plus.org. It is a free program. 
• 8. The file for translation is located at Play as Dragon\kubejs\assets\kubejs\lang\ru_ru. Rename the file according to local code of your language. You can see list of all local code here: Minecraft Wiki 

■ Optimizing ■ Modpack was regularly tested on a weak laptop and in general there were no serious drops in FPS. The only thing you'll need is to wait for the initial generation of the world. If the game window stops for more than 2 minutes, forcibly close the window through the Task Manager. After you have entered the world and chosen a dragon, write in the chat /pregen start gen radius 60Chunk SQUARE ~ ~ 32 minecraft:overworld NORMAL_GEN. Don't do anything until the game has finished generating the world around you. It will take a lot of resources of your computer, but then everything will run smoothly. But, of course, I'm not a wizard and I can't turn your potato into a top-of-the-line computer. If lag occurs only in dragon form, use this. Do not raise the chunk load above 8. Allocate at least 5 gigs of RAM in the Curseforge settings. Be sure to disable entity shadows to increase your fps.

■ Map ■ If you don't want to wait for the map to be generated, use the ready-made map here: Link. It is not necessary to use this map, you can generate it yourself from any seed, but do not install someone else's maps that were not created specifically for this modpack.

■ Localization ■ If you want to localize the modpack, let me know - BlackAures#7759. The main language is Russian (ru_ru), not en_us! Many thanks to Horeak for creating the little mod to generate the localization keys :3

■ Optifine ■ Modpack crashes with optifine. Do not use it. We use Oculus. If you want to use a shaders, add them to the "shaderpacks" folder and activate it in game video settings. By default there are 2 shaders available to you.

■ Rights and Use ■ I do not allow the use of parts of modpack created by me (quests, datapacks, configs, textures) in other projects. If you want to use modpack on your server or YouTube channel, leave a link to this page. All rights to mods belong to their owners.
