Did you know there's secret difficulty modifiers in Minecraft Java Edition? The game doesn't tell you outside of the F3 menu, but its called regional and clamped regional difficulty. These secret modifiers increase the chances of hostile monsters spawning with certain buffs. Examples are armored zombies and skeletons, spider potion effects, enchanted tools, etc. You can find all of the effects here.

In a regular vanilla setting, the regional difficulty gradually scales up the longer you spend in the loaded chunks around you. It also is influenced by how long the world has been ticking for, and the phase of the moon. Depending on world difficulty, it is capped at certain values. Due to many different variables these conditions will almost never line up, and its rare when you truly experience the hardest difficulty modifiers the game has to offer. Thats what this mod covers.

⚠️ This mod WILL make the vanilla game harder. Instead of scaling with the player, the hardest modifiers are thrown at you immediately. Be weary.

Usage

Upon loading a world, the mod will automatically set the EffectiveDifficulty (Regional difficulty) and SpecialMultiplier (Clamped regional difficulty) to their max values for each world difficulty. For reference, here is the multipliers that the mod will set it to.

R = Regional / CR = Clamped Regional

Easy: R 1.5/CR 0.0

Normal: R 4.0/CR 1.0

Hard: R 6.75/CR 1.0

Peaceful has no effect, because its peaceful.

This mod supports Fabric and NeoForge. Fabric supports 1.20.1+ and NeoForge supports 1.21.1+. No extra dependencies are needed.

This mod is server-side and will work on every client. Clients do not need the mod to see its effects. It works on singleplayer and LAN servers aswell. Drop it into your mods folder and it'll run out of the box no configuration needed.

This mod is designed to be optimized and unintrusive. If you encounter any bugs or performance issues, please report them to the github repository.
