Death Respawn Notifier

Death Respawn Notifier makes deaths and returns easier to follow on Minecraft Java servers. It can add useful location details to death messages, broadcast when players respawn, show personal death screen details, and mark dead players in the vanilla Tab list.

This is a server-first Fabric mod. A dedicated server can run the shared features without requiring every player to install the mod. Installing it on the client adds personal death screen details, respawn action bar alerts, Mod Menu controls, and singleplayer support.

What You Get

Death messages with useful context

Server death messages can include the dimension and coordinates where a player died. Keep the extra detail on when your group wants easier recovery, or turn it off when you prefer vanilla-style death messages.

A simple message when players respawn

Respawn broadcasts let everyone know when a player is back. Dimension and coordinate details are optional, so the message can stay short or include more context for coordinated play.

Personal death screen details

Players who install the mod on the client can see death dimension and coordinate details on their own death screen. These are personal Client Config settings and do not change global server behavior.

Optional respawn action bar alerts

Client players can enable a short action bar alert after respawning. It is useful when you want a quiet reminder of where you returned without adding another chat message.

Dead markers in the Tab list

When the server enables Tab list dead markers, players with the mod can see which players are still dead directly in the vanilla Tab list.

Mod Menu settings when you want them

With Mod Menu installed, players can adjust their own death screen details and respawn action bar alerts. In singleplayer, or on a server where the player has Operator permission, the Server Config screen also exposes the global death and respawn features.

• Dedicated server: required for death messages with dimension and coordinate details, broadcast respawn messages, and Tab list dead markers.
• Client: optional for personal death screen details, personal respawn action bar alerts, Client Config, Mod Menu settings, and singleplayer.
• Required dependency: Fabric API wherever this mod is installed.
• Optional dependency: Mod Menu on clients for Client Config and permission-gated Server Config.

Configuration Details

Death Respawn Notifier separates personal settings from global server behavior.

• Client Config controls your death screen details and respawn action bar alerts on this computer.
• In multiplayer, Client Config never overwrites global Server Config.
• Server Config controls global death and respawn features: death messages with dimension and coordinate details, broadcast respawn messages, and Tab list dead markers.
• Turning off global death and respawn features leaves vanilla death messages unchanged, stops respawn broadcasts, and hides Tab list dead markers.
• In singleplayer, Server Config edits global settings in the local config file.
• On remote servers, Server Config is editable only with Operator permission.

Config File

After first launch, edit:

config/death-respawn-notifier.properties

File edits require a game or server restart. Mod Menu changes apply immediately where editable.
