“The Winter Frontier” is a winter-themed Modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2 Forge version, focusing on survival in the zombie apocalypse.

Following the storyline of “The Last One”, after the disaster struck, only one in ten humans survived…
It has been three years since the disaster struck, and as a resident of the city of Cyprus, it has been a difficult journey to survive in such trying times. According to the latest news from PDC, the Eastern European Plain is about to face its worst blizzard in a hundred years.As a member of the reserve team of the expeditionary organization, you are tasked with establishing your own survivor camp and trying your best to survive in this harsh winter.

❄City of Cyprus
City of Cyprus is a city located in the northern part of the Eastern European Plain. Before the Catastrophe, it was one of the economic development zones in Russia. With excellent mineral resources and rare metals and rare earth elements brought by a giant meteorite millions of years ago, it quickly became a "strange" city: heavy industry, light industry, and high-tech industries developed rapidly, with foreign investment pouring in. In the early stage of the Catastrophe, due to its strategic importance, the Russian government quickly upgraded its defense: building high walls, destroying the out-of-town roads, and leaving only a few tunnels and roads controlled by the military. After the establishment of the PDC, this safe, highly developed, and well-established city was temporarily designated as the capital and research center of the PDC and was subjected to further defense upgrades. Although the PDC later relocated, this city was still specially protected as one of the few super-heavy cities. However, in the Abyssal Assault of 20██, the development of the situation was unexpected: after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake, an ultra-large Abyssal Nidus and several advanced Abyssal creatures burrowed out of the city center (for more information, please refer to the Retrieval Log SY-1), and the entire defense line was instantly destroyed. This was the first large-scale use of the Abyssal underground attack on the battlefield, but due to the invention of the magnetic circuit, the Abyssal direct breakthrough from the city below became the last time. The city became a heavily infected area of Hight+ level. However, thanks to the design of defense measures against internal enemies, the PDC quickly blocked all external channels of City of Cyprus and controlled a small suburban area inside the wall.

♈More Challenging Survival Challenges
Temperature
Your body temperature will be influenced by the biome you are in, the temperature of the blocks around you, and the season. Since the story takes place in winter, the cold will be your biggest threat to survival. Leather lining will increase your resistance to low temperatures, and you will have a pair of chained leather lining by default. However, you still need to look for suitable places to make fires and build fireplaces. Otherwise, in too cold conditions, you will get a cold effect which will reduce your health like a poison effect.
Balanced Diet
It is important to balance your food intake. Sufficiently high dietary balance will give players better buffs, while too low dietary balance will cause a significant drop in the player's immunity.
Food Decay
Food will freeze over time, and different frozen foods will not be able to stack, which will take up a lot of your space, you need to make refrigerators and other containers to store your food (stored in these places will control your current food temperature) if there is no need to take measures, about 1 day or so, your food will be frozen.
Water System
Thirst value has been added, and the concept of hydration has been added to existing food items (such as eating bread will make you thirsty). To restore your thirst value, you can eat foods with high water content (e.g. apples, fruit juice, milk, etc).
Digestive System
Now it takes some time for you to digest food. After you eat food, it will be stored in your stomach first (as shown in the digestion bar below), and then a certain amount of digestion value will be converted into hunger value every period of time. However, if the hunger value is full, digestion does not occur. As a compensation, you can now eat indefinitely to increase your digestion value, but when your digestion value exceeds a certain point, you will become too full and move slower. If you continue to eat after getting too full, you may vomit, clearing your digestion and hunger bar and losing a lot of nutrients.
Fatigue System
Not sleeping for a long time will have serious negative effects on you. Therefore, you need to control your sleep situation and go to bed on time.
The best sound experience
To provide the ultimate sound experience that matches the post-apocalyptic zombie effect, the author (me) has specifically searched for resource packs, sound effects, and mods. (Note: the sound effects may be loud and affect the gameplay experience, so it is recommended to lower the volume of hostile creature.
Progressive Difficulty Experience
We have set up a monster progressively enhanced system through improvedmobs to manage zombie improvements. As time passes, zombies may gain the possibility of holding weapons or wearing equipment. However, the difficulty will not increase for the first three days (protection period), so please develop your survivor camp as soon as possible. (Reminder: monsters will destroy blocks from the beginning, and currently, iron railings, obsidian, and other blocks cannot be destroyed by zombies.) You can see the difficulty value in the upper right corner, the higher the value, the stronger the monsters.
Adjusted Monster Drops
Currently, zombies not only drop experience, but also drop currency, cigarettes (smoking is harmful to health), and brain cores (items that can enhance weapons and equipment).
Market System
Players can use the small market as a black market trading point and can also trade with PDC (Ftbquests books) or Wandering Traders.
Scavenge System
Most of the loot in chests has been adjusted, making it possible to spawn items such as bullets or firearms. You can find great items like weapons and equipment in the city or abandoned ruins, which encourages you to explore the map more.
Zombie Swarm System
Zombie swarms generally spawn within 15 days and then respawn about every 15 days. Experience the horror of being chased by a group of zombies.
Hunting System
A completely homemade hunting system (not yet fully complete, includes polar bears, chickens, cows, pigs, rabbits, sheep, wolves, and deer). Killing these creatures will drop a corpse, which can be processed using a hunter's knife to obtain corresponding meat. The meat can be directly eaten or used to make better ingredients to supplement mental/ protein needs.

We will not prevent anyone from shooting videos of the modpack. We also welcome everyone to shoot and send us the link. However, please specify the source of the modpack and we would greatly appreciate it.
This modpack requires at least 4GB of RAM to run. It is currently in open beta testing and may encounter errors, but updates and fixes will be provided as soon as possible. We welcome all feedback and suggestions from players!
Because I am a Chinese and not very familiar with English, and maintaining the modpack has already taken a lot of my time, I apologize that not all items/quests/tips have been translated well into English.
